May 31, 2011  |  Fitness

The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and sports launched its Adult Fitness Test.  By checking it out you can find out how you compare with others your age and design a get-fit-plan.

You can give yourself the test online at www.adultfitnesstest.org.  The data collection form is at http://www.adultfitnesstest.org/resources/datacollection.pdf

Recommended achievements for a 40-year old

Push-ups.

  • A woman who rests on her knees should be able to do 33 without stopping.
  • A man with toes (but not knees) on the floor should be able to do 40 in a row.

One and a half mile run

Good luck.  If you don’t meet the above criteria, check our fitness ideas on how to improve.
