If a local spa is available, they may have these treatments available.
Chemical Peels.
Chemical peels can be a very effective way to treat acne. One does not need a doctor’s prescription nor does one have to visit an MD to have a chemical peel performed. Many spas offer chemical peels and there are at-home chemical peel kits. Chemical peels involve applying a layer of glycolic or lactic acid to the skin, waiting 1-3 minutes, and then neutralizing the peel by applying water. The acid works to burn a layer of skin, which peels off to reveal a new layer underneath. Chemical peels range from $90-200 for one peel at the spa to $15-75 for an at-home kit.
Laser treatments.
Lasers work in two different ways to fight acne, by shrinking the oil producing sebaceous glands and by killing acne bacteria. Laser treatments range from $150-300 per treatment.
