Honey is an antibacterial

Simple Do-it-yourself Prevention Tips

Change your pillowcases and tie hair back when you sleep.
The oil in your hair and from previous nights can cause you to breakout.

Change hair products.
Some products irritate the skin more than others. If your hair is in your face or you have bangs try switching products or stop using products at all.

Keep your cell phone clean
and hold it away from your face when talking. Cell phones collect a lot of bacteria and may cause jaw-line breakouts.

Wash hands constantly
and stop touching your face with your hands/leaning on your hands. The bacteria that you collect on your hands can cause breakouts on your face if you touch your face at all during the day.

Home remedies once you have acne

Here are some approaches you can try at home. All the ingredients are available at your local grocery store.  For each product, simply dab it on your face.

Acidic foods like lemon juice and vinegar can flush out pores.
Dab a little of either one on pimples twice a day during a breakout.

Aloe vera.
Use all over face or mix with moisturizer. Aloe straight from an aloe plant is best. Be careful to read te ingredients of bottled aloe and make sure aloe is the 1st ingredient or the label says at least 95-99% aloe vera.

Aspirin mask.
Crush 7-8 uncoated aspirin and mix with a dab of aloe vera. Spread on clean face. Wear for as little as a half hour or as long as overnight. The salicylic acid (found in many OTC products) in the aspirin is a powerful acne fighter.

Buttermilk
It has active cultures that can help clean away dirt and tighten pores. After dabbing acid on the face (the lemon juice and vinegar approach), wash your face, and then massage your face with buttermilk. Leave on for a few minutes, then rinse. Repeat several times a week.

Honey and nutmeg
They have antibacterial properties that can help clear up the skin. Combine 1 teaspoon of each and apply to the pimple. Leave on for 20 minutes then wash off. Do this twice a day. Tip: Mantak honey is the best type of honey for acne. It is available at most health food stores. Honey and cinniman mask works just as well!

Ice cubes from the freezer
Wrap them in plastic and hold to a pimple for up to 5 minutes at a time will help reduce the redness and ease the inflammation.

Tea tree oil
This is oil from the Australian tea tree. One study found a 5% solution of tea tree oil worked just as well as a 5% benzoyl peroxide medication when dabbed on your face. Also, there were fewer side effects, like dryness, burning, itching, and redness.

  1. I started doing the fresh pillowcase thing and getting my hair out of my face when I slept, it really helped. Something else that is important is to make sure you’re drinking enough water to flush your system of toxins that can contribute to acne. Exercise also gets toxins out of your system faster.
